This week’s photo challenge is “symbol” and there was nothing else for me to choose except the two symbols of the Camino de Santiago. Walking the Camino Frances was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I still think about it most days even though it has been more than two years since I took that first of many steps that carried me over 800km across Spain. I can’t wait to do another trail to Santiago, one day.
The shell is the symbol of the Camino de Santiago itself, a pilgrimage that is over 1000 years old. The arrow is more modern, the symbol that shows pilgrims the way. Following the arrow for a month certainly ingrains it as a symbol in your head (to the point where for the first few days back home, arrow sightings are rather hazardous). This is one of many photos I have of these symbols.
